# Image Binding

Image binding safely assigns image URLs after component data is available. Use \`data-image\` to prevent premature requests from unresolved template bindings.

## Documentation

## Which components support image binding?

The following components support image binding:

* `ff-record`
* `ff-suggest-item`
* `ff-asn-group-element`

## Understanding image binding

By default, `src="{{image}}"` will be added to all children of an image binding element that have a `data-image` attribute.

{% hint style="info" %}
The `src` attribute will only be added once data binding is available.

Using `src="{{image}}"` directly in the template could lead to invalid requests.
{% endhint %}

For example, this `ff-suggest` would show the suggested product's image:

```html
<ff-suggest>
    <section class="productsContainer">
        <ff-suggest-item type="productName">
            <img width="100" height="100" data-image />
        </ff-suggest-item>
    </section>
</ff-suggest>
```

You can overwrite the default binding by providing a value for the `data-image` attribute.

```html
<img width="100" height="100" data-image="https://your-custom-image-server/{{attributes.articleNr}}" />
```

See the API tab for further supported attributes on image binding elements.

| --------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **product-image-identifier** (String) (default: "\[data-image]") | CSS selector that determines targeted children for data binding. |
| **product-image-error-identifier** (String) (default: "data-image-onerror") | If this names an attribute on a targeted image and no `onerror` callback exists, its value becomes the `src` value on `onerror`. |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.fact-finder.com/webcomponents-overview/api/more-features/image-binding.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
