FactFinder NG User Management

Overview

FactFinder-{{variable.factfinder-ng-product-name}} has its own User Management (permissions management) functions that allow you to set the authorizations for various modules at a fine, granular level. In this way, for example, individual users can only manage specific channels or check and maintain the associated configurations.

This system of permissions is based on roles that provide access to specific modules. These roles can be allocated to the user directly or indirectly via groups. Groups allow complex roles to be allocated in bulk, without having to assign them individually for each user.

Add, delete, or modify user IDs and their access rights within the FactFinder Management Interface.

FactFinder allows you to assign different access rights and/or channels to each user. This ensures that users cannot make changes outside of their assigned area of responsibility. Any user given administrator status will have all rights for all channels.

Each user should have a separate access ID, each of which is protected by a password. This ensures that any changes made to the configuration (such as entries in the Preprocessor or Thesaurus, for example) may be traced. Access rights may also be managed and assigned via roles. The channels assigned to each user are handled separately.

For a large number of users, or for frequent changes among users, roles may be managed as part of groups, and users may be assigned to these groups. In this fashion, all of the access rights assigned to that group are awarded to every member of the group.

A user may be associated to more than one group; such users possess all the rights from each of the corresponding groups.
